Wireless Networking at St. Olaf
Wireless access to the St. Olaf network is widely available across campus. It is available to students, faculty, staff and guests.
St. Olaf Users
If you have a St. Olaf username and password, configure your computer or handheld device to use the St. Olaf wireless network (SSID). This wireless network is secured and encrypted with the 802.1x security protocol, and provides access to the Internet and all St. Olaf computing resources.
Follow the appropriate instructions for the computer or device you are connecting: Windows 7; Windows Vista; Windows XP; Macintosh OS X; iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch; Android devices; Blackberry devices; Ubuntu Linux.
Once connected, start a web browser. If you haven't already registered your computer on the network, you'll be prompted to do so. Enter your St. Olaf username and password. This network registration process only has to be done once each academic year for personal computers.
Guests
If you are a guest of the college, and do not have a St. Olaf username and password, configure your computer, handheld or console device to use the St. Olaf (Unencrypted) wireless network. This network is open and is not encrypted; it does not securely transmit information over the network. It provides access to the Internet and some St. Olaf computing resources. The St. Olaf (Unencrypted) network does not provide access to the college's file servers or printing.
Once connected, start a web browser. If you haven't already registered your computer on the network, you'll be prompted to do so. Enter the username and password you were provided by your campus host to register your computer/device on the network and use the Internet.
