Dr. Scholl Science Fellowships at the Lincoln Park Zoo
Criteria for selection of fellows: Fellowships are restricted to (1) undergraduate students in good academic standing, (2) recent graduates, or (3) graduate students with research interests that coincide with the zoo staff. Each fellowship carries a salary of $3750 for 12 weeks. All living and other expenses are the responsibility of the fellow.

American Heart Association Undergraduate Student Research Program
Program offers students to explore careers in heart or stroke research in cardiovascular research laboratories in California, Nevada or Utah for 10 weeks during the summer to work under the supervision of experienced scientists. Projects range from basic molecular research to direct physiological studies. Some opportunities for participation in more clinical investigations also available. This program is open to students of Junior or Senior status enrolled in a college or university at time of application, attend an institution in California, Nevada or Utah or be a resident of one of these states. Must have completed a combined total of at least four semesters of six quaters of biological sciences, physics or chemistry. Must have completed at least one quarter of calculus, statistics, computational methods or computer science. $4000 stipend for 10 weeks of summer research. Environmental Careers Organization (ECO)
ECO places approximately 400 interns each year in environmental "internships," though most of these pay quite well and provide good entry-level opportunities for graduating seniors. If you are a college junior, senior or graduate student, OR you have completed your Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. degree within the last three years, you are eligible. Internships last from 3 months to 2 years. Average stipend is $425 per week.

Student Conservation Association
SCA sponsors several conservation and environmental programs, mainly in national parks, forests and wildlife refuges. Undergraduates and recent alumni are eligible for the program. SCA now offers AmeriCorps education awards of between $1,180 to $4,725 to individuals who successfully complete an SCA Conservation Internship. The award can be applied toward existing college loans or future tuition. Plus, your students get college loan deferment and SCA's generous financial package of travel, housing, a weekly living allowance and insurance.
