WEDNESDAY, SEP 3, 2008 — Professor of Biology Ted Johnson will present his talk, "Students, New Science Building, and the Liberal Arts," during opening convocation Thursday. The event will officially begin the college's current academic theme of "Science and the Liberal Arts."

Gant gets spot on Redskins' practice squad
TUESDAY, SEP 2, 2008 — St. Olaf grad Horace Gant '08 was added to the Washington Redskins' practice squad on Sunday. Gant, who had two receptions for 26 yards in the Redskins' five preseason games, joined the team as an undrafted free agent in April.

Chemistry Department receives S-STEM grant
TUESDAY, AUG 26, 2008 — A grant from the National Science Foundation will fund a new program to provide increased support for chemistry students and encourage more students to pursue a major in the field. The Chemistry Department's award is the third S-STEM grant the college has received.

Coen brothers prepare to film at St. Olaf
WEDNESDAY, AUG 20, 2008 — Academy Award-winning filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen will film part of their upcoming movie, "A Serious Man," in the old Science Center at St. Olaf. "It's a perfect fit for the look and the feel of the movie," Tyson Bidner, a member of the film's production team, told the Northfield News.


Student farmers make STOGROW a success
MONDAY, AUG 18, 2008 — Students eating at the cafeteria this fall will be treated to a wide variety of produce grown on campus by five hard-working student farmers. The crop grown this summer at STOGROW, St. Olaf's student-run farm, features everything from basil to zucchini.
