Service Leadership Scholarship

About the Scholarship
True communities have a memory or a set of shared stories that helps to shape identity and character. So, too, do institutions like St. Olaf, which embraces a strong tradition of service to others. The college is and has always been committed to providing a rich educational experience that fosters exploration of faith, and inspires graduates to find ways do well while doing good. To this end, we encourage and reward the efforts put forth by our applicants in making the world a better place through work in their churches and communities.
Eligibility
Students who have been active in their church, in their communities, or deeply involved in service projects are encouraged to apply for the Service Leadership Scholarship.
Recipients of this award are expected to continue their participation in service to others during their time at St. Olaf, either on campus, or in the local community. This award is $6,000 per year and is renewable for the remaining three years, based upon demonstrated involvement in such activities during the first year.
How to Apply
Students interested in being considered for this scholarship must submit a cover letter of application and a detailed resume of involvement in community, school, and/or church. In the resume, please describe the project, its goals, and your role in it. Applicants must also submit a complete application for admission, and postmark it no later than January 15, 2011 (by November 15 for ED 1 candidates) for fullest consideration. Only those candidates who also wish to be considered for need-based financial aid must submit the CSS PROFILE and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
